Absolute beginner crochet pouch

A girl can't have too many pouches to store things. Drawstring pouches are versatile and easy to use. You can put make ups, earbuds, phones. If you make it a little bigger it can be a bucket bag. it is also a great stash buster.

In this pattern which I originally made for the beginner kit I sell, I utilized the magic of a self striping yarn. When I was a beginner it used to bore me making something plain but it also pains me to keep changing colors. This self striping yarns are a great way to put some excitement into a repetitive stitch.

Stitches:

Magic ring/ circle

Ch- chain

Sl st. - slip stitch (used to close the circle)

Sc - single crochet

Hdc - half double crochet

Dc - double crochet

Back loop only - insert hoop only on the back loop (pic below)

Front loop only - insert only on the front loop

*There are 2 loops in a crochet chain that looks like a braid, you normally insert on both loops

but in back loop only you leave the front loop unworked (pic below)

Pattern:

Make a loop around your finger, insert the hook inside the loop, yarn over and pull through

the loop, while holding the loop chain 1. Do not close the ring yet.

Round 1 make 10 hdc inside the loop (working continuously,...)

Round 2 make 2 hdc in each of the hdc on the previous round making a total of 20 hdc.

Round 3 make (1 hdc, then 2 hdc on the next) this is to increase. Making a total of 40 hdc.

Round 4 make (1 hdc on the next 2 hdc, then 2hdc on the next)

Round 5 make (1 hdc on the next 3 hdc, then 2hdc increase)

Round 6 make (1 hdc on the next 4 hdc, then 2hdc increase)

Round 7 make 1 hdc around.

Round 8 make 1hdc around but this time only doing it with the back loop. (this will create

some sort of break from bottom and body, if it's confusing it can be omitted, just

continue doing hdc around regularly.)

Round 9-18 keep doing hdc , sl st.

Round 19 chain 4, skip the next hdc and make a Dc on the next hdc, chain 3, skip the next

hdc and Dc on the following one. Do this around, then sl st. (this will create holes for the

string of the pouch)

Round 20 chain 3, 1 dc on he chain space, dc on the previous dc. repeat around, sl st. Round 21- 22 make Dc around ( if you feel your yarn will not be enough, you may omit one round and go to the next .)

Round 23 working only on the front loop, make 1 Dc then 2 Dc on the next. (this will create a little wave for a cute design

when you close the pouch, this can also be omitted depending of preference, you may

just do a normal 1dc around, try to experiment)

Fasten off  and weave in the end.

String: chain 130, fasten off

insert this string on round 19 spaces
