How to double pull or turn a lace weight yarn to medium or chunky yarn

There are so many kinds of yarns available in the market but countries like ours have limited yarn weights available. Most medium weight yarns are quite expensive for us. We have to get creative and buy doubles or triple skein then combine strands from both. Sometimes you have a yarn stash you really want to use for a project but it's a lace weight yarn. Sometime the pattern demands a thicker yarn and a bigger hook. We have to get creative.

Buying doubles is good but sometimes you have your own stash you bought a while back and have been wanting to use but you only got pne skein or cake, this is where this tutorial I found comes into play.

At first glance I thought it was so complicated and it made me fear getting my yarn tangled up casuing a bigger headache. But after trying it out it actually really works!

The downside is, it has to be done in 3 strands when there are times I only want it in 2. But this is still very useful.

So here it goes....I also made a video of this to make it clearer

First this is make an s shape with your yarn

Pick up the 3 strands

Make a slip knot

Then chain away
When you run put of the 3 strands, pick up your working yarn (meaning the yarn that's attach to the skein) between the loop and pull to make a longer 3 strand yarn
Keep doing this as you go along your project.

There you go lace to medium weight ❤️

I hope I was able to describe it well eith eords and photos but if you can't get it, here's the video I made ❤️
